When considering dental veneers, you should know that they are the most versatile of the dental prosthetic improvements that a cosmetic dentist can offer to improve your smile. There is no doubt that the world has made vast improvements to the world of cosmetic dentistry, and that there are many products for you to choose from when you are looking for a way to vastly improve your smile. None of these, however, are as easy or as inexpensive as dental veneers can be. One of the biggest advantages that dental veneers offer you is the fact that they work with the existing teeth, meaning that you keep your original teeth and augment them with the dental veneers. For people who want to have a better smile, and want to improve the quality of their teeth, without losing their original teeth porcelain veneers are an excellent compromise.

When you get a different prosthetic solution you are going to lose some, or most, of your natural enamel. With dental crowns, we would need to shave off almost all of the enamel so that the dental crown looks and feels natural. With dental implants, it is even more intense because we would remove any remnant of the tooth, and the root, to make room for the new dental implant and crown. On the other hand, with veneers we will only shave away a millimeter or so of the enamel, to make room for the veneer. This shortens the healing process and makes it so that porcelain veneers can be used for a number of repair projects including fixing teeth that are stained, broken, or crooked.

The great thing about dental veneers is the number of common problems that they are so good at fixing. Here are some of the most common reasons why people come in to see us and select dental veneers as their preferred treatment method.

  • Dental veneers can fix teeth that are intensely stained. Sometimes teeth are so badly stained, or so immune to regular whitening, that the normal teeth whitening procedures have no real effect on the teeth. In a case like this we are able to remove the discolored upper layer of enamel and replace it with a dental veneer for a permanent whitening solution.
  • When you have gaps in the teeth, this can prove to provide a smile that you are not completely proud of. Placing dental veneers strategically over the top of these gaps can help to reduce the gaps. As a result, your teeth will look more even. This is a quick way to fix the gaps in teeth.
  • Malocclusion is the condition in which people have crooked teeth. Mild malocclusion can easily be fixed with the help of dental veneers. In fact, this will have an immediate effect. On the other hand, if you have severe malocclusion, you will need to see an orthodontist for a cleaner and more thorough way to straighten your teeth.

Dental veneers are a complete and one stop solution, providing you with solutions to all you dental cosmetic changes.
